I’m There for You

“It’s scary saying something out loud that has been private in your head, but it does feel good to get it out of there. It’s kinda like cleaning up the dirty, sticky, messy, dead rodent stuff out of a kitchen. When you’re done, it just feels better, like there’s a clean space to fill with new things.”

When you’re a fifth grader who has a not-so normal life, it’s hard to pretend that everything is okay. Jack works hard to hide the truth, tucking it away so he doesn’t have to think about it. That seems to work, at least for a while.

When others find out his secret, Jack relies on the kindness and support of his little buddy, his best friend, his soft-hearted principal, and a very unusual woman to help him through a very difficult situation. He learns how it feels to depend on someone and have someone depend on you.
